One of the main Analytical Approaches that media executives use in today's society to try and sell their product better is Audience Profiling. In audience profiling they will look at the demographics of a specific group so they have a brief idea on what they might want to include on there advertisement. By looking at these demographics they might be able to attract more of an audience towards buying their product. Audience Profiling factors may include Age, Gender, Race, Sexuality etc. However some demographics are mainly just based on stereotypes because some people debate they are not true and they can also be interrogating and segregating. As an example CEO's as an example will be put in the A class on a demographic profile. In my opinion I think audience profiling is quite a big thing towards media executives because without it they may have less chance of selling there product to more people, however I also think if someone did not agree with what is included in a specific advertisement about a specific demographic group it will cause a slight bit of outrage. So I also think media executives need to be very careful when basing their advertisement at a specific demographic group. Therefore also with demographics if someone wasn't included in a certain demographic profile it would be un-fair if media executives come to look at a demographic profile they might not have information about certain people. Although audience profile's are meant to include everything about a certain demographic group mainly based on stereotypes if it does not they might not attract the right audience towards their product and it might not sell as well if they got the majority of things right.Thirdly I am going to talk about the third analytical approach which is Codes & Conventions. Producers create codes & conventions so they can pick out some very major or minor stereotypes to use in their TV programme as an example. They will mainly pick out how someone in a specific demographic profile dresses or reacts to specific things happening around that type of person. By producers using stereotypes in their TV programme they have a bigger chance of making people laugh because it could show exactly what the people think about a student, adult etc. In my opinion I think stereotypes are a good thing for television producers to use in TV programme's because it makes more people laugh so in other words they will attract a bigger audience and on the other hand if they didn't use any stereotypes in my opinion I think the TV programme will not be as funny or intensifying etc. There are four Codes that film producers might use to make their film better and these four codes spell out the word SWAT, this stands for Symbolic - Written - Audio - Technical. Producers will use Symbols (Symbolic Terms) to show the viewers how a character might have been treated in the past by showing what clothes he wears and what area he comes from. By doing this it makes the audience come up with a brief idea what this character might have done in the past before showing them it for real. As an example a specific character could be walking through a rough estate with quite rough clothing on, this on the other hand will give the audience a brief idea about this character. Producers will use the Written technique to show viewers what time of day it is as an example. By doing this it can show a lot about a specific character that might be waking up early or walking through time late at night. These written titles can range from near enough anything because it can show the city name such as London etc. In my opinion I think titles can be very effective in a film because they can be designed in multiple ways as an example if it was a army/war film they will use quite corrupt and easy to read titles as an example. Another code that producers can use is Audio. Audio can involve a lot with editing and filming because they need to make sure they collect all of the Audio correctly with the Boom Microphones etc, because when the Actors/Actresses are speaking they want to make sure they can hear them clearly. Also when editing with Audio they need to make sure if it is quite am intense scene they play the suitable music (Dark) to make it a lot more intensifying so they can possibly scare the viewers in a specific scene. Possibly the last code producers could use is the Technical code and this is near enough all to do with editing. The technical code is very important because the editors need to make sure they use the right transitions etc to make the different shots flow smoothly together. To conclude this I think all of these four codes need to be used when making a film, television show etc to make sure it looks the best sounds the best etc.
Lastly I am going to talk about the fourth analytical approach which is Narrative Analysis. A narrative analysis is typically an academic pursuit. A narrative analysis quite easily breaks down a final edit or end product in terms of how good the product or film is in other words it's ability to attract an audience. It can attract an audience by it's genre, it's form or it's importance in the industry so how could it make a specific company more money. In my opinion I think narrative analysis is very important in the Media industry because it sell's it self a lot better to the company by telling them what the product can do and how will it help them in some way shape or form. Also narrative analysis can be structured in many ways such as Linear and Non-Linear. If producers choose to use a Linear narrative structure they will shown everything in chronological order and they will tend not to show anything from the past in the middle of the film as an example. On the other hand with Non-Linear they will show things in Non-chronological so they will show a lot of things from the past in the middle of the film etc. A Linear as an example will follow this act one; setting, character, introduction and so on throughout act two and three. Whether as Non-Linear doesn't have to follow a straight line narrative because they probably do a reverse narrative etc. In my conclusion I think all of these four analytical approaches that I have listed are needed when making a film etc to make a great final product, and in my pinion I find Non-Linear narrative's a lot more entertaining because you don't mainly suspect things until the end of the film.
