Viewing figures are monitored and released to the public are commonly known as ratings, it can determine the shows success and it's future for example, ITV vs BBC. Some TV series have been cancelled due to low ratings, this may be because two TV series might be played at the same time but on separate channels this on the other hand will cause people to leave bad ratings because they wan't it to be played at a different time of the day. The TV series might choose to do this because they will want people to watch their TV series so they can make money to fund it. As an example of two TV series at war is Britain's Got Talent and The Voice. When the voice first started airing in 2012 they thought they could beat one of the talent shows called Britain's Got Talent; however this did not go to well as BGT was too powerful so on the other hand the voice was forced to change time of year their show would be played so they moved it so there TV series will have a better chance of getting more views so they can fund their TV series. So in the end The Voice didn't end up being shut down despite the fact it was massively over run by Britain's Got Talent. In my opinion I think ratings mean a lot in the Television and Video Industry because they can either make or break some TV series. I think this is good because as an example if a TV series was getting bad ratings they would change the time and date the TV series will be broadcast-ed so the audience is happy and from this with a bit of luck they will not get left with hundreds of bad ratings. For my debate research I have looked into fan reviews on The Voice and there has been over four hundred reviews and the majority of them are bad. So despite the fact they changed the date there show will be broadcast-ed they still need to do a lot more improvement to stop these bad reviews flooding onto a specific website. In my opinion again I think the voice need to make their shows a bit more entertaining like Britain's Got Talent as an example they have a much better judging panel and from this they make the show quite humorous something The Voice does not do. Hopefully if The Voice make this change less bad ratings will be left about the voice because people might be enjoying the show. To conclude this I think a TV series will always get left multiple bad ratings on their TV show and this might be because it isn't aimed at their demographic profile so on the other hand they will not enjoy a specific TV programme and in result they will most likely give a bad rating about the TV show.
