Taste & Decency
Transmissions should not include anything which offends against good taste or decency. However some TV programmes do not follow this rule and on the other hand it could incite some people some people into crime, lead to disorder or being offensive to the public. The age category that mainly takes eye to these sort of things are young children and teenagers so by watching a specific program it could lead them to doing something like that seen on the program. Children can mainly pick up these types of discouraging programs that could have strong language in it before 9pm. So in my opinion all of the discouraging programs should be played at a reasonable time after 9pm.
An example of a taste & decency film is Gone Baby Gone. This films release date was changed because when Madeleine McCann was kidnapped very closely towards the release date of the film Gone Baby Gone that stars Ben Afleck was changed because it would be a bad taste towards the public because a little girl had very shortly been kidnapped. The date release was also definitely changed in the UK. The synopsis of the film Gone Baby Gone is; two Boston area detectives investigate a little girl's kidnapping which ultimately turns into a crisis both professionally and personally. Madeleine McCann was kidnapped on the 3rd of May 2007. The original release date of the film was supposed to be on December 28th 2007, however it did get pushed and the release date was moved to June 6th 2008. The company that changed the date of the film release was Disney because they own a more adult orientated production company called Mira Max. However on the other hand they also had an interview with Ben Afleck and he also agreed that the date of the film release will be changed. The interview was released on the Telegraph. In my conclusion I think the date release of this film should not have been changed because it could of raised awareness around the UK and maybe in some other countries. To me I think the main awareness that it would have raised for people that have kids is keep them close or supervised by someone you trust. Another awareness that I think would have spread-ed around the UK is to the police force because it might on the other hand encouraged them to do more and maybe slightly change their policing methods so they can catch more murderers, kidnappers etc. Also some are against using 9/11 as a plot for a film. Some people think this because they think it still isn't long enough to make a film out of this tragic incident against the USA. However their are films coming out about WW2 and trips to Irak and Afghanistan. One of the latest films about a trip to these countries is American Sniper, and not many people went up against this and this film is also best on a true story. About the american sniper who is most famously known for killing a terrorist that was 2100m away twenty one football fields. This great person also suffered from a disorder called post traumatic stress and not a lot of comments came up about this that could of offended some people that have PTSD. I think more people have to have a better awareness about smaller incidents as well as bigger ones like 9/11 so more people can have a stronger debate on taste & decency.
